Azerbaijan

Azerbaijan started to write their Eurovision history in this 2008 with the song "Day after day" interpreted by Elnur Hüseynov from Turkmenistan and Samir Javadzade born in Baku, Azerbajian.

They gain their ticket to Belgrade after winning "Land of Fire" the national preselection, where I rathered "If you never back" interpreted by same Elnur Hüseynov.

"Day after day" is a mixure among opera and folk azeri genre of mugham. It's the representation among the goods and the evils "for peace we pray save us from all fears" they said.

They make a nice stage performance but in my opinion a very overrated song at the final countdown gaining a debut entry in a 8th place. In 2009 they get a spectacular 3rd place, but still not my hit. Again in my opinion extremelly overrated but the force of the muslim vote is absolutelly evident.

I still want to think that Azerbaijan can grant us with a much better song than this that you can find at this video:

San Marino

One of the 2 new countries in Eurovision 2008, is San Marino. They were represented by binational group Mi Odio (3 italians and 2 San Marinese) with the song Complice (Accomplice). It has been a sad begining last position in their debut year gaining only few votes from Andorra and Greece.

Lyrics were writen by Nicola Della Valle and it's a song with romantic evocations.
Personally I'm including this song because it was my only choise, the only entrace of the history of San Marino. I hope we can find more interesting songs in the future for San Marino, this is one example for countries that decide not to sing in Eurovision in English, not all the people can talk their languages, so it's better to have audible appealing songs, not like this.

Miodio has recorded their first album

By now here is the entry of 2008 ESC San Marino

Morocco

Morocco has been only represented once in Eurovision Song Contest, so far the best and the worst of the history of ESC, is 1980 Moroccan entry.

Samira Bensaid is the singer, "Bitaqat Khub"(Love card), the song.

It talks about the good will a world free of discrimination, without traitors of peace.

Samira is nowdays a well respected woman in the muslim World of music, having recorded 33 records until 2008.

May be Morocco don't really belong to Europe (as Israel) and she might not back, hopefully in a near future we can have it back in a World Vision contest.

See the video of Samira Bensaid representing Morocco in 1980 here:
